Recently I was asked a peculiar question. And to tell the truth, I was flabbergasted. And that reaction is uncommon to me. The question was not intruding or even remotely offensive. It was a simple question, in plain English.

Now to dispel the suspense! I was asked- What is success to you?

Thats it! Like I mentioned, it was that simple. It did one more thing to me, it actually made me think and I do not mean the ever so famous superficial thinking. I thought( seriously ) and it did me no good. So, I introspected. (introspect was just another word to me till then btw! )

I also realized that when one delves so deep into oneself, one tends to learn a lot. More than learning, it is revealing. I refer to those secrets, feelings, hidden truths that you keep buried, deep deep within. I refer to those things that you are scared to admit, not to someone else, but to yourself. And  I refer to those things that you are ashamed to admit, not to someone else, but to yourself.

All said and done, it was a wonderful experience.

What was success to me? I finally found the answer and trust me, I did not like it. I would never, ever, ever tell that answer in public. At least for now.

I gained a lot from it though, I came face to face with the real me. The one I always tried to superimpose over, so that no one else would see him. And now I can say proudly that we at least agree one one thing!

Its true you know, Accepting can be quite an ordeal!
